10 year celebration of Jagaran Nepal : Felecitation to the contributors of Nepali Women Movement

Jagaran Nepal celebrated a decade of its journey  on 25 February 2014. Inaugurated the event among an august gathering of civil society, CA members, government officers, leaders of political parties including women activists as well as journalists and academics were present. On the occasion, Sahana Pradhan – a legendary personality in Nepali politics was felicitated for her enormous contribution towards nepali Women Movement. S Resolution on 18 May 2006. Therefore, for their contribution to pass special resolution on ensuring at least 33%women participation at every level, on 30May 2006- which was tabled by Bidhya Bhandari and supported by Kamala Pant, Naba Raj Subedi and NP Saud, the four political leaders were felicitated for their historic contribution towards women participation.Jagaran Nepal also felicitated Mr. Devika Timsina – former advisor of Jagaran Nepal, Ms. Meena Bista- founder  executive member and currently manager of jagaran Nepal for her continuous support, Ms. Leela Sharma- member and currently executive board member and Mr. Dinesh Dhungana – former staff- for their invaluable contribution to the organization at different phases of ten years journey. 
 
During the program, a publication " Jagaran Ka Dus Barsha" was released jointly by Chiarperson Sharmila Karki,Honorable President of Natioanl Women Commission Sesh Chand Tara, feminist and dalit women rights activist Durga Sob, Political activist Kamala Pant of Nepali Congress, sita Poudel of CPN-UML, Dama Sharma of CPN-Maoist and Nabaraj Subedi of UCPN Maoist. 
 On the occasion Sheschand Tara, President of National Women Commission expressed her opinion that Nepali women do not have a favorable environment unless male leaders of the political parties behave their colleague women as their equal partners. SharmilaKarki, Jagaran Nepal President remembered the early days of Jagaran Nepal which was very difficult and by the cooperation of the women activists as well as other stakeholders, the organization has come a long way in its working areas: Women Rights, Peace and Governance. Other speakersKamala Panta, SabitraBhusal, Dama Sharma, JanakChalise and activist Durga Sob, Nabaraj Subedi, Sashi Shrestha  wished Jagaran Nepal all the success in its mission and expected to work together for the cause of women in politics amid the  challenges to sustain the issue of WIP in a patriarchal country like Nepal
