Communication and Social Mobilization for Promoting Recovery among Earthquake Affected Community: District Project Launching Program

Jagaran Nepal has just entered into the partnership with Alliance Against Trafficking of Women in Nepal (AATWIN) and UNICEF Nepal to implement a project entitled ‘Communication and Social Mobilization for Promoting Recovery among Earthquake Affected Community in earthquake affected districts. Out of 5 project districts, Jagaran Nepal will implement the project in Kavre district consisting of ten highly earthquake affected VDCs.

Jagaran Nepal organized a program on 3rd of August, 2016 to officially launch the program in the district. The overall goal of the project is to build the capacities of civil society organizations, especially promoting their resilient capacity to disaster and its consequences. The project will specifically focus on improving project beneficiaries’ access to local resources, empowering them by encouraging their participation in community planning processes, offering support and ensuring equitable treatment, etc. The project will also link them with existing community-based organizations and local-level service providers so that they can work with the communities in creating resilient communities for themselves.

In the launching event, district based key stakeholders (Local Development Officer, Major Political Parties, Government Line Agencies and Civil Society Organizations) were invited and informed about the project. In an intensive discussion, some suggestions have been collected and some of the questions were answered. The project will last long for two years.
