Fact finding and sharing in Sindhupalchowk

A team of fact finding was mobilized to sindhupalchowk district, one of the most affected due to earthquake for finding out the reconstruction issues. The fact finding effort was done based on focused group discussion (FGD) and Key informants' interview (KII) with the affected communities and the stakeholders. Carried out with support from IM Swedish development Partner, the collected information on affected communities' issues for reconstruction was disseminated by organizing an interaction programme among the district level stakeholders at the district headquarters. The discussion of the report was made by highlighting the rehabilitation and reconstruction issues of women and marginalized committees who were consulted in a group of 12 each including women, men, Dalit, Janjati and children. This consultation was focused on the impact of the earthquake and their current situation of survival. The discussion was also focused on the situation of discrimination, untouchability especially against women and children as well as violence against women.
The information collected from group discussion, Keyinformants were developed as consultation report and shared among the district level stakeholders meeting. The participants of this program were women, Journalist, Teacher, civil servants, social workers, farmers, students, university teachersand civicorganization activists. The program was also attended by Chief District Officer who thanked Jagaran Nepal for such a fact finding program. Jagaran Nepal's Manager MeenaBista and its advisors were present in the interaction.
