Training on Leadership Development for Elected Women Representatives on Human Rights, Women / Dalit Rights

Three days training on "Leadership Development for Elected Women Representatives on Human Rights, Women / Dalit Rights" in presence of women elected representatives from Kailari Rural Municipality and Gauriganga Municipality has been completed in Dhangadhi, under Women Representation and Leadership Development (WoRLD) Project with the financial support of DCA on 3rd and 5th June 2018 on Dhangadhi, Kailali. The training was conducted with major two objectives. One of the objective of this training was to provide knowledge on issues on human rights focusing on women rights movement and achievement as well as dalit rights making the participant familiar regarding the different provisions concerning Dalit and women rights under constitution and national policies and international movement and practices as well. The second objective of the training was to enhance leadership development of newly elected women members, particularly on advocacy on gender responsive laws .

A total number of 40 participants participated in the program including all women member from Kailari Rural Municipality and Gauriganga Municipality representing women and Dalit women representatives. Similalry, in order to promote partnership development, representatives of WDRF board member also participated in the training. Mr.Puspa Bikram Sahi, Program officer at Safal Nepal worked as Lead Trainer of the training, Ms. Sabitra Ghimire - Director of DEWRF Kailali, Ms.Chitra Paneru- Chairperson of ADJUST Nepal , Ms. Meena Bista - Manager of Jagaran Nepal facilitated the training as co-trainer and Mr. Khadak Joshi provided the guest lecture . 3 days training content focused on delivering leadership skill development focusing on minimizing gender and racism discrimination issue in community level. Deputy Chairperson of Kailari Rural Municipality, thanked Jagaran Nepal for providing the training towards their respective local governance women elected member. She mentioned that the training is very important towards enhancing their leadership development. She opined that this kind of training would help to establish their leadership development and they can perform as leader in their respective community advocating their issue towards gender discrimination and as a service provider to the public. Participants also expressed their views regarding the training program. They held that the training provided them with the confidence and helped them develop their public speaking skill in mass and build up leadership quality.
