Interaction and Sharing the Findings of ‘Policy Assessment on Women’s Participation in Political Life and Decision Making

An interaction and sharing program on the findings of "Policy Assessment on Women's Participation in Political Life and Decision Making" under the project "Strengthening women’s participation especially from marginalized communities in local governance, decision making, elections and politics (SMARCO)" was organized by Jagaran Nepal on November 29, 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Project aims to strengthen women’s participation especially from marginalized communities in local governance, decision making, elections and politics, consisting of 30 remote VDCs of six districts of eastern and central region. The policy assessment was carried out by an external expert and the assessment findings were shared and feedbacks were collected from the concerned stakeholders including legislative members and political leaders.

A total of around 50 participants participated in the program including representatives from different line ministries, legislative members, women leaders from different political parties, their sister wings, student wings, etc. Similarly representatives from Governance Facility, other concerned INGOs, and networks working in different human/women rights sector, civil society groups, NGOs and Medias. The program was moderated by Ms. Meena Bista, Manager of Jagaran Nepal, chaired by Ms. Sharmila Karki, Chairperson of Jagaran Nepal and Hon. Ranju Kumari Jha, Chairperson, Legislative Parliament Committee for Women, Children, Senior Citizen and Social Welfare participated as Chief Guest. The program began with welcome remarks and objective sharing of Mr. Dipak Prasad Bashyal, National Project Coordinator.
