Interaction on “The Disputed Issues of Citizenship and Its Impact on the Participation of Women in Politics” held

On the occasion of 102nd International Women’s Day, Jagaran Nepal along with its policy advocacy network WIPAA and  NFOWRC (National level network of the grassroots level women) coordinately  organized an interaction on “ The Disputed Issues of Citizenship and Its Impact on the Participation of Women in Politics” on March 6, 2012 at Jagaran Nepal hall.
In the interaction, the member organizations of WIPAA, NFOWRC members from 37 districts, federations, alliances and like minded organizations of women’s rights sectors’ representatives were present. Amidst the participation, Sabin Shrestha (Human Rights Activist) shared the disputed issues of citizenship and its impact on entire women rights especially women’s participation in politics. The disputed issues of citizenship were caused by the decision of Sub-committee which was formed to settle the differences in different issues in drafting new constitution.  The participants were thoroughly oriented  on why the equal footing rights on citizenship is needed and what will be its implications on entire women rights issues including women’s participation in politics. WIPAA coordinator and Jagaran Nepal chairperson chaired the program amidst the participants from different sectors.
