Memorandum Submission to ensure at least 33% women participation on the occasion of 9th General Convention of CPN (UML)

On the occasion of 9th General Convention of CPN (UML), the second largest party in 2nd CA election, all 12 member organizations of Women in Policy Advocacy Alliance (WIPAA) submitted a memorandum to Party Chairperson Mr. Jhalanath Khanal on 25th June 2014 for ensuring at least 33% women representation in Central Committee as well as other party mechanisms and portfolio members. It was coordinated by Jagaran Nepal.

Receiving the memorandum, Chairperson Khanal said to take the issue of women representation seriously in implementation level in upcoming General Convention. Stating the seriousness of party in the issue he further expressed his commitment for playing an active role in enhancing women representation in all the mechanism of party with well appreciation of the appeal from the Civil Society organizations. He expressing the efforts of the party in ending Gender discrimination and other social discrimination gave an assurance to work for making 33% women representation in 9th General Convention as well as 50 % women representation in local election.
 
The memorandum was handed over jointly in team by Ms. Sharmila Karki - Chairperson of NGO Federation of Nepal as well as Founder Coordinator of WIPAA. Other presented members expressed their queries about Inclusion of women as well as meaningful participation of women.
