An Interaction on “Role of Youth and MenEngage to End Violence against Women” Held:

Jagaran Nepal organized an interaction program on “Role of Youth and MenEngage to End Violence against Women (VAW)” in the presence of youth leaders from sister organizations of major political parties on November 9, 2009 at its premises.

For designing and set forth the activism in 16 days campaign on violence against women, Jagaran Nepal organized the program. The program was chaired by Jagaran Nepal President Sharmila Karki and facilitated by Laxman Belbase, Regional Coordinator of MenEngage program and Mina Bista, Program Coordinator of Jagaran Nepal. Laxman Belbase briefed the importance of MenEngage to end violence against women and its historical background in different countries. The conceptual clarity on violence, its forms, severity of VAW and the role of youth to end the forms of VAW were discussed at the program. The student leaders of different student unions put forward their insights on the role of youth and importance of MenEngage to end violence against women. They made their commitment to take action against VAW and put their solidarity with their complete involvement in each of the campaigns initiated by Jagaran Nepal on VAW. They asked Jagaran Nepal to work together on VAW and ready to bring forth the plan of action jointly to end VAW and its forms. They suggested Jagaran Nepal to bring such type of programs massively at grassroots and district levels also.
