Discussion on VAW Act 2066

Political party leaders, civil society activists and advocates stressed on prevention of violence against women for dignified and just society. They stressed this on the program organized by Jagaran Nepal and Women Joint Struggle Committee jointly in the capital. Speaking on the program, Chanda imageShaha minister of Youth and Sport Pledged to unite women and fight against violence. Likewise, as guest speaker Sharmila Karki, president of Jagaran Nepal underscored on the essentiality of women leaders to influence on policy level to prevent violence against women. She further said that most of the violence cases are causes of illiteracy and unawareness among the women.

In the program, Lila Gupta of Nepal Sadvawana Party, R.B Bhandari of Nepal Communist party Integrate, Puspa Thakur of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Santa Bahadur Nepali of National People Front, Sunil Manandhar of Nepal Communist Party Unified, Goma Devi Devkota of CPN UML and Manish Kumar of Nepal Sadvawana Party highlighted on the 16 days campaign and relevancy of VAW Act for the prevention of imageviolence against women. They further emphasized on the creative support of male leaders to prevent the violence. Advocate Maina Pardhan and Indhu Tuladhar also spoke on the program.

The program was conducted under the chairpersonship of Chanda Shaha, state minister of Youth and Sport and central member of Tarai Madhes Loktantric Party. Kalpana Rijal, member of All Nepal Women Association convened the program and Devika Limbu, member of women joint struggle committee gave welcome speech. More than 300 women and male leaders of different political parties, civil society activists and professionals were presented in the program.
