Program Launching in Sunsari

In order to create opportunities to the women for inclusive participation of the women in Political and Social Institution, Jagaran Nepal has been implementing “Building capacity of the women for inclusive participation” project in 3 VDCs of Sunsari district with the financial support of DAN Church Aid. The district level launching program was organized on 21st April 2013 in meeting hall of Sunsari DDC.

The program was chaired by the Chairperson of Jagaran Nepal- Ms. Sharmila Karki. Ms. Meena Bista-Program Coordinator of Jagaran Nepal facilitated the launching program. Mr. Rajkumar Sapkota- Program Coordinator of Jagaran Nepal presented the brief introduction of the project. Total 70 participants from Government Institutions, Village Development Secretaries, Women Networks, Media, NGO Federation, DDC, Political Parties, former CA Member and other stakeholders were present in the launching program.

Addressing the program, Acting LDO well appreciated the initiative taken by the Civil Society Organization and expressed his solidarity. He suggested working in collaboration and co ordination with DDC. He admired such programs would be supporting the government’s development initiative and asked to expand the working areas to more VDCs in the district. Addressing the program, former CA Member Ms. Gauri Mahato expressed her solidarity and her memorable experiences with Jagaran Nepal.  It is good that Jagaran Nepal came to work in village level in Sunsari district but number of working VDCs seems very less. I like to request to increase the number of working VDCs for better result she added.

Speaking in the program, Chairperson of Jagaran Nepal Ms. Sharmila Karki said that Jagaran Nepal has been contributing to the priorities of governments although it has been involving in policy advocacy and different pressurizing program. Jagaran has more focus on inclusive participation of the women in politics. The action has designed to support for implementing the decisions of the government and legal provisions. The action will be implemented in close coordination with local government she ensured.  Moreover, the participants expressed their view to coordinate each other while implementing the actions.
