Project Advisory Unit Meeting of EEDG Held (December 28)

Jagaran Nepal and Himalaya Conservation and Development Association (HCDA) jointly organized second Project Advisory Unit Meeting under “Electoral Education at Grassroots and District Level for Democratic Governance (EEDG)”project on 28th December 2012 at Jagaran Nepal hall. The meeting was organized amid participation of advisory unit members along with Jagaran Nepal team.  

The objective of second Project Advisory Unit (PAU), was to update the members on quarterly progress status of EEDG project, SHARING of action plan up to March 2013 and seeking valuable inputs from advisors. 

Members of advisory unit present during the meeting were Sharmila Karki, Prof Kapil Shrestha, Komal Dhamala, Basanti Shahi, Shanta Sedhai, Gopal Lamsal, and Tanka Panta. The meeting was chaired by Ms.Sharmila Karki chairperson of Jagaran Nepal. Mr. Raj Kumar Sapkota National Project Coordinator of the Project, welcomed to all participants. Highlighting the objectives of the meeting, Ms. Sharmila Karki told that this advisory unit includes different related sectors of this project like Election Commission, NEOC, civil society, media, local organization of Karnali and Nepal Bar Association.  She clarified that the project will support Election Commission of Nepal and will work as bridge to link the issues from national to local level and vice versa. During the program, Rajkumar Sapkota, National Project Coordinator presented the project details and updates. Advisors appreciated the elaborate updates and also expressed their commitment and assist as per need. Prof. Kapil Shrestha, representative of National Election Observation Committee suggested for sort out the local problems using local resources and pay attention on the composition of different committees. Similarly Mr. Komal Dhamala of Election Commission of Nepal urged to make uniformity in delivering election related message, preparing manuals and other information.
