Resource Centre Inaugurated

Jagaran Nepal has established well equipped Women Resource Centre at Centre level.  Resource centre has developed as a common platform for policy advocacy. It has been providing services to the potential women leaders, researchers, academicians, students, volunteers and organization working for Women's Inclusion in Politics since establishment. It has been offering services like availability of reading books, availability of computer, internet services and availability of common forum for discussing on emerging issues especially related to women. 

On the one hand, the centre will be a milestone to create an atmosphere on learning attitude among the leaders, politicians and students, to learn about computer applications and enhance skill on English language with the understanding on emerging issues and on the other hand, it will provide a platform for policy level discussions for leaders, intellectuals and other interest groups to take endeavor for pro-people and pro-women policies  which will eventually contribute to overall development of the country with justice to equitable society.

With the view to expand the resource centre at regional level, Jagaran Nepal has established the women resource centre in Biratnagar with the financial support of Global Fund for Women and Dan Church Aid(DCA).  The formal inauguration program was organized on 21st April 2013. Chief District Officer of the Morang district Mr. Taranath  Regmi  and inaugurated the women resource centre as a chief guest of the program. The inauguration program was chaired by Ms Sharmila Karki, Chairperson of Jagaran Nepal. 90 participants were present in the program. They were from Political Parties, Civil Society, Government Institutions, VDC, DDC, Municipality, District Police Office, NGO Federation, Federation of Journalist, Local Media and other stakeholders. Former member of the Constituent Assembly Ms. Gauri Mahato and Ashoda Adhikari were also present in the program and paid their valuable time.

Addressing the program chief guest Mr. Taranath Regmi has expressed best wishes for continuation of resource centre. This centre will be contributed to enhance the capacity of women leaders, researchers, and others who are interested to broader their knowledge. I am ready to support any initiation taken by the resource centre for enhancing leadership capacity of women, he added. Speaking in the program Former CA Member Ms. Gauri Mahato said that Jagaran Nepal has been contributing a lot for inclusive participation of the women in politics. The women resource centre will be played vital role to bring the local leaders of the different political parties together and capacitated them to compete. Similarly, Former CA Member Ms. Ashoda Adhikari expressed her best wishes to the Jagaran Nepal for advancing resource centre in the days to come.

Chairing the inauguration program Chairperson of Jagaran Nepal Ms. Sharmila Karki said that Women Resource Centre has better impacts in the centre level and many women leaders, researchers, volunteers, students were benefited by it. I was dreaming to establish women resource centre for capacitating women leaders in regional and local level and it becomes success today due to the kind support of all stakeholders. She thanked all for their support and encouraging suggestions. The Program was facilitated by Ms. Meena Bista- Program Coordinator of Jagaran Nepal and Ms. Rajkumar Sapkota Program Coordinator of Jagaran Nepal welcomed to all participants. More than 20 participants from different arena have registered their name as a member of Women Resource Centre including former CA Members.
