Roles of Men and Youth to End Gender Based Violence

Realizing the roles and responsibilities of Male and Youths in mitigating Gender Based Violence, an Interaction Program was organized at Jagaran Nepal Hall, Anamnagar, Kathmandu on 4th December 2013 Wednesday. The program was jointly organized by Jagaran Nepal and Partnership Nepal on the occasion of 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence and Human Rights Magna Meet 2013. The program was chaired by Ms Sharmila Karki- Chairperson of  NGO Federation-Central and also the chairperson of  Jagaran Nepal who also clarified the objective of the program. Mr. Gajadhar Sunar - Co ordinator to Human Rights Magna Meet 2070 and the Chairperson of Dalit NGO Federation was the Chief Guest to the Program and the Welcome Remarks was put by Mr. Krishna Thapa, Chairperson of partnership Nepal and the Chairperson to NGO Federation- Kathmandu. The program was moderated by Ms Meena Bista, Program Manager of Jagaran Nepal.

The program was inaugurated by lighting 16 candles and wearing the white ribbon and T shirt with the message against GBV jointly by all the guests and participants which was provided by Men Engage Alliance. The participants of the program were Leaders of Students Union, students from Colleges and the members of different Civil Society Organizations. Mr. Ritu Raj Bhandari who had a lifelong experience working in the sector of Women Rights remaining at different Government Post presented the paper and facilitated the discussion.

At the end of the program, a seven point Commitment paper was endorsed by the participants.  They raised their hands together in a circle and expressed their solidarity by signing on a commitment banner.
