SMARCO Project Orientation Workshop

Jagaran Nepal (JN) has just entered into the partnership with Governance Facility (GF) to implement a 3 year long (Dec 2015 - Dec 2018) project entitled 'Strengthening Women's Participation especially from marginalized communities in local governance, decision making, elections and politics-SMARCO'. The ultimate goal of the project is to increase the women's participation in Local Governance. Based on consortium approach, the project has just been started and is being implemented in partnership with district based organizations in the 30 remote VDCs of six targeted districts (Taplejung, Panchthar, Jhapa, Ilam, Morang and Kavre).

In order to formally proceed the project, Jagaran Nepal, carried out a project orientation (kick-off) workshop in Biratnagar by involving all the Consortium Partners (CPs) and project staffs from above mentioned project districts. The objectives of the workshop was to orient the newly recruited project staffs and consortium partners about the overall project idea including its objectives and expected outcomes, discuss on the project thematic issues and make partner's quarterly and annual action plans. Some women leaders were also invited in the workshop to share their experiences while involving in political parties and other leadership positions.
