Summary of the Project

 

A) Title of the Project: “Women’s Representation and Leadership Development Project (WoRLD)”

B) Project Objective: To Increase Women’s Participation/representation especially from marginalized communities in decision making, local governance and political process

 

C) Impact of the Project: To increase Women’s Participation/representation especially from marginalized communities in decision making, local governance and political process

 

D) Outcomes of the Project: 

 

·         Policy advocacy at national level for women’s leadership development and their equal participation in decision making, political and community development processes

·         To improve organizational capacity including institutional governance, research and learning, constructive advocacy and GESI institutionalization of CSOs.

·         To improve bottom up coordination and networking among community, district, and national level formal and informal CSOs through constructive advocacy.

 

E) Outputs of the Intervention: 

  • Increased capacity of women for policy advocacy to enhance their leadership and participation in decision making, local governance and political process

·         Enhanced advocacy skills including tools and techniques of CSOs to implement constitutional and policy provisions related to women’s participation and caste as well as gender based violence.

  • Improved solidarity and network among community, district and national level CSOs to implement collective advocacy for women’s issues”

F) Key Project Activities: 

1.Conduct study/review of policy documents (including manifestos and statute (Bidhan) of major political parties )and publication of the gaps

2. Organize a series of national consultation/dialogue

3. Documentation of achievements and challenges of local election

4.  Training on Women’s Civic and Political Rights to women political leaders

5. Lobby/Advocacy visits to major political parties and concerned govt. authorities

6. Media Advocacy and Mobilization

·          TV Talk show (weekly) focusing on women’s participation in local election

·          Weekly Radio Program

·          Media Interaction/sensitization program

·          Radio Jingle to be aired from community radios/FM

·         Research : Gender Media Monitoring

·         Partial Support : Documentary "Success and Struggle of Nepali Women "

7.  IEC Materials Development and Dissemination (local election

·          Development and Dissemination of Booklet (3,000 PCs)

·          Monthly E-Bulletin Dissemination (local election edition)

8.  Participatory Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Audit of DCA’s Partners

·         Develop Training Manual and collect other reference materials

·         Training to Partner NGO

·          Support partner NGOs to develop various advocacy tools and techniques, research, networking and solidarity, technical support, coaching and distance feedback on advocacy related works

·          Assist to partner NGOs to build networking from community to district to national to international level

·          International solidarity-Universal Periodic Review (UPR), CEDAW, UN Bodies, Regional (South Asian)

I) Total Budget: NPR 5,250,000.00

J) Right Holders:

Direct Right Holders:  The project will provide technical back up to Dalit Women Rights Forum (DWRF), Kailali and Dalit Welfare Organization (DWO), Achham and other organizations as per necessary. In that sense, JN will cover the target groups of both the organization as well both organizations as target groups through backstopping them in women’s political participation. It is expected that at least 600 women from dalit and other marginalized communities will be directly benefited from this intervention (including advocacy, training, interaction, etc.). Also, millions of people will be reached out through media mobilization part.

Indirect Right Holders:  Jagaran Nepal under this project mainly focuses on national level activities along with the technical back up to other implementing partners at district level. In that sense, only national level duty bearers are considered as secondary target groups in this project.
